"I know I can beat this disease."
“I want to be able to pay it forward.”
"Linda Creed was my niece."
“I feel like I’m part of the Linda Creed family.”
“I was glad you were there. Linda Creed helped me two times."
Since 2012, dedicated volunteers have supported the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Organization in the Poconos. Every July, the group raises money through a series of events in July called the Lake Naomi/Timber Trails Breast Cancer Rally.
LCBCO uses the funds to provide direct services to women who live in the Poconos. Included are free screening mammograms and diagnostic tests at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center – Pocono offered to women who are uninsured or underinsured and a patient assistance program for local women who are receiving breast cancer treatment.
The Lake Naomi/Timber Trails Breast Cancer Rally lasts for a week. This past July, it included:
5K Run/Walk. The 2019 event took place on the Pocono Mountain West cross-country trail.
Men’s and Ladies’ Golf Tournaments. The Men played at the Pinecrest Lake Golf & Country Club while the women hit the links at the Lake Naomi Club Golf Center.
Tennis Tournament. Hosted at the Lake Naomi Tennis Center this tourney included a rotation of round robin tennis, cardio tennis, amusing tennis contests, finishing up with a reception.
Bridge Tournament. An evening of fun at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse, club members participated in a variety of bridge games based on their skill level: duplicate, party or beginners. Also offered: a series of free Bridge classes prior to the event.
Celebration Event. Wrapping up the week is a dinner at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse with raffles, silent auction, live auction and more!
Everything raised in the Poconos stays local. The dedicated team members who live in the Lake Naomi/Timber Trails community coordinate the events and related fundraising. In addition to contributing their own valuable time to plan and staff the events, they reach out to the local business community to offer them affordable advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

Poconos Patient Assistance grants support non-medical expenses such as rent, utilities, food, transportation, etc. Funds are also utilized to help under and uninsured women access screening mammograms and early diagnostic tests through an area hospital.
Patient Assistance grants average $1,500 and go to stave off evictions, utilities shut-offs, phone shut-offs, provide transportation to treatment, pay for groceries, and child-care services for mothers with young children – just to name some of the critical needs women face due to reduced household income.
“When I was diagnosed, I was supporting a family of six, was not able to work full-time and two weeks after starting treatment, I was in an accident and my car was totaled. Linda Creed Breast Cancer and their Lake Naomi Timber Trails Breast Cancer Rally fundraiser volunteers came through at the right time and gave me hope.”

“This was a blessing to our family. With our situation, it helped so much. I can focus on getting better and not worry about money for right now.”
